Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo sent a message about the Russian-Ukrainian war, to his more than 400 million followers, on the Instagram application.
Ronaldo wrote on his Instagram account:
"We need a better world for our children. Praying for peace in our world."
Prominent Ukrainian football stars such as former Ballon d'Or winner Andriy Shevchenko and Manchester City midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko have made emotional pleas to defend their country.

Russian international Fyodor Smolov posted a message saying "No to war" on social media, while Ukrainian Atalanta player Ruslan Malinovsky revealed a shirt that read "No to war in Ukraine" after scoring against Olympiakos in the Europa League.
