In a dry river valley on the west bank of the ancient city of Thebes, today Luxor in Egypt, lies the final resting place of the kings of the 18th, 19th, and 20th dynasties of the New Kingdom.

The tomb of King Ramses VI, with its magnificent inscriptions, stands out as one of the most beautiful tombs located in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. What is its story?

The construction of this tomb dates back to the reign of King Ramses V, around 1147 to 1143 BC of the Twentieth Dynasty.  Apparently Ramses VI around 1143-1136 BC enlarged the tomb of Ramses V, his nephew, and used it for himself.

The importance of this tomb is that it is credited with discovering Tutankhamun's tomb and its treasures in 1922, as the huts of the workers who built this tomb are located directly above the ground that hid the stairs to Tutankhamun's tomb.

The walls of this tomb were decorated with many funerary inscriptions that helped the king to transition safely to the afterlife, including the Book of Gates, the Book of Caves, the Imidawat, and the Book of the Dead, all of which are an important source for studying the funerary beliefs of the other world according to the ancient Egyptian belief

. In the burial chamber, where the ceiling of the burial chamber is decorated with a scene depicting the sky goddess Nut arched on the ground, the sun disk in front of her mouth, about to swallow it. Which is a mythical representation of the sunset.

Twelve solar disks can then be seen inside Nut's body, representing the sun god's daily twelve-hour journey through the underworld at night, before he was born again in the East, young and full of life.  Through this text, just like the sun god, the king can achieve a glorious rebirth on the eastern horizon at dawn which enables the king to ensure his rebirth on the eastern horizon at dawn like the sun god, according to ancient Egyptian belief.

In turn, the Egyptian photographer, Nael Hazaa, decided to document the tomb of King Ramses VI during his visit to the tombs of the Valley of the Kings in Luxor with the lens of his camera, due to its splendor and the preservation of a large part of its details.

Speaking to CNN in Arabic, Hazaa explains that visiting historical sites and archaeological sites and documenting them is a passion for him, and during his visit to the tombs of the Valley of the Kings, the people of Luxor advised him to visit that cemetery specifically.

Hazaa points out that the accuracy of the inscriptions on the walls of the tomb and the minute details of most of its contents made it a distinctive tomb compared to many other archaeological tombs.

He also drew attention to the sarcophagus of the mummy, which makes you amazed at the accuracy of its carving.
Although the sarcophagus was broken, it underwent a restoration process that took about two years, to appear in its current form.

For Hazaa, he describes the scenes on the walls of the tomb as imaginary, adding that the details engraved on the ceiling of the tomb, which tell about the stages of life after death, and the colors that still retain their richness over thousands of years , make this tomb a huge canvas.

The tomb has a simple layout, as it consists of a group of corridors descending in a straight line, leading to the burial chamber deep underground.

The photos that Hazaa shared on his Instagram platform were praised and admired by his followers, noting that they achieved a wide interaction.

Hazaa recommends visiting this unique archaeological site, saying: “The place is very impressive and worth a visit, as great efforts have been made to preserve the cemetery from damage,” adding that the best time to visit is in the early morning, so that the visitor can enjoy watching the cemetery away from crowded people. .
