Bell was born in Seattle, Washington in 1955 and from a young age showed a keen interest in reading. His parents brought him into the Lakeside Private School, where he was introduced to the computer for the first time, to grow his passion for computers and software technology, and to begin with his friend Paul Allen to hone their programming talents.

While at Lakeside School, Bill was able to write a program in the Basic language that allowed computer users to play against the computer, and this was the first result of his passion for programming. He attended Harvard University and left it after two years to found Microsoft with his friend Allen.
Bill continued his work at Microsoft with enthusiasm, enthusiasm and a strong commercial insight to become one of the largest software companies in the world.

Beginnings

Bill was raised in a middle-income family with his two sisters Christian and Libby.
His father, William Gates, was a lawyer, and his mother, Mary Maxwell, worked as a teacher, then worked with several charities and as an administrator on the boards of directors of some banks and companies.

As a child, Bell was an avid reader with books and encyclopedias, and at the age of twelve his parents seemed concerned about his studies, as he showed signs of restlessness from school, so his parents enrolled him in Lakeside Private School.

Bell excelled in all his subjects and excelled in science, mathematics, language, and drama. Computers captured Bell's interest when Lakeside School introduced a computer into its halls, and Bell was able to write a program in BASIC that would enable computer users to play against the computer.

At Lakeside School, Bill met Paul Allen, who was two years his senior, and they shared a love for computers.
The two friends at school spent most of their time working on computer programming, and when Bill and Allen found vulnerabilities in the school's computer operating system, they could get additional time using the computer, which angered the company that designed this program, which in turn prohibited the school from using the operating system for a period from time. After the deprivation period ended, the company accepted Bill and his friend Allen's offer to address the operating system vulnerabilities. Indeed, the two young men were able to do so. Bill was even able to develop the company's employee payroll program and was able to develop a school attendance system.

In 1970 Bill was fifteen when he and his friend Allen developed a computer program to monitor traffic in the streets of Seattle, and their net profit from that project amounted to $20,000.

The two friends were determined to start their own company, but Bill's parents wanted their son to go to high school and go to college, hoping to become a lawyer.

Bell finished high school in 1973, and he passed the SAT with a score of 1,590 out of 1,600, a feat that Bell boasted for years while introducing himself to new people.

Bill attended Harvard University to study law, but he was not attracted to this field, as he spent most of his time in the university's computer laboratories and computers and software occupied all his thoughts.

Personal life

In 1987, the 32-year-old Bill met Melinda French, who was 23 at the time working as a production manager at Microsoft, and their relationship developed, culminating in a marriage in Hawaii in 1994.

Bill and Melinda had three children: Catherine (1996), Rory (1999), Phoebe (2002). The family lives in a large house in Washington.

Achievements

Allen, a school friend, had dropped out of the University of Washington and moved to Boston to work there. The two friends kept in touch. One day, Allen showed his friend Bill a copy of a famous electronics magazine featuring an article about a microcomputer called the Altair 8800 made by a company. Little Mets in New Mexico.

The two young men realized that this was a great opportunity for them, so they contacted that company claiming that they were working on writing a program in Basic language that could run Altair8800 computers. Bell and Allen had not yet begun writing the program when the company had expressed an interest in learning about the alleged program, forcing them to work hard for two months in Harvard Computer Labs to write it.

Allen traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to test the program with the Mets company.

In 1975, Bill and Allen founded a software company called "Microsoft", which means software for small computers.

Microsoft software was prevalent among hobbyists who used to obtain copies of these programs before they were released in the market and distribute them for free. In 1979, the company started creating software in different formats for various computer companies.

With a staff of 25 who handled production development and marketing and a manager with technical ingenuity and business insight like 22-year-old Bill Gates, Microsoft earned nearly $2.5 million in 1979.

Bill personally supervised every line of software algorithms written. Produced by his company "Microsoft", he personally follows the smallest details of the company's work.

As computer manufacturers began to grow, Bill began touting Microsoft software features, often taking his mother, Mary, to marketing sessions, who, knowing her fellow corporate board members, arranged for Bill to meet with the CEO of IBM.

At a time when IBM was looking for an operating system for its computers, Bill Gates had managed to strike several hidden deals with other software companies to win the chance to contract with IBM.

Indeed, Bell was able to contract with IBM, and Microsoft's profits grew significantly between 1979 and 1981 to become 16 million US dollars, after it was 2.5 million, and the company's staff expanded to 128 employees instead of 25, and Bell became president of the company and Chairman of its Board of Directors, and Allen was appointed Vice President The company has expanded to have several branches in different parts of the world.

In 1983, Allen contracted cancer and had to leave his position at "Microsoft", but some say that Bill Gates is the reason why Allen left the company.

In 1985, "Microsoft", under the management of Bill Gates, released the "Windows" operating system, which was developed from the "DOS" system that Microsoft had previously designed.

The operating system "Windows" had a great spread for its ease of handling by all users, and despite Bill Gates' differences with the competing Apple, Microsoft continued to develop "Windows" with several versions that occupied the software market, which brought the company huge profits.

As a result of the progress made by Microsoft in its versions of the Windows operating system.

Despite this huge wealth, Bill did not lose sight of managing Microsoft in a professional and accurate manner. He personally followed the progress of things, delved into the smallest technical and administrative details, and was striving to develop the spirit of creativity and innovation in the hearts of his employees.

In 2000, Bill and his wife Melinda established the "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation", which is concerned with charitable work. In 2014, Bill Gates stepped down as Chairman of the Microsoft Board of Directors to become a technical advisor to Microsoft.

Bill continued to dedicate more of his time and effort to the Bill and Melinda Foundation, and the charity's activities expanded tremendously to provide assistance in the areas of education, health, and scholarships.
